High Plains cattle sales report

The High Plains area weekly weighted average direct cattle sales results for the week ending May 24, reported receipts of 42,536 head compared to 75,957 head a week ago and 46,393 head a year ago, according to the USDA Livestock Poultry and Grain Market News Division, St. Joseph, Missouri.

The report was based on sales from Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa, and Minnesota feedlots.

Steers: Live FOB basis, over 80% Choice, 14,078 head, 1,300 to 1,700 lbs., 258.00 to 265.00 (260.64); 65 to 80% Choice, 1,426 head, 1,250 to 1,700 lbs., 258.00 to 260.00 (259.28); 35 to 65% Choice, 367 head, 1,270 to 1,600 lbs., 259.00 to 260.00 (259.35). Live delivered basis, over 80% Choice, 957 head, 1,475 to 1,600 lbs., 260.00 to 264.00 (263.09). Dressed delivered basis, over 80% Choice, 9,241 head, 832 to 1,080 lbs., 405.00 to 415.00 (410.32). 65 to 80% Choice, 419 head, 914 to 992 lbs. 408.00 to 410.00 (408.36); Dressed FOB delivered basis, over 80% Choice, 70 head, 1,048 lbs., 407.84.
