Isabel Dalton, a graduate student in the South Dakota State University Department of Natural Resource Management, has been accepted into the National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship Program.
The selective recognition is for graduate students who “have demonstrated potential for significant achievements in research.” Only 2,500 students were awarded fellowships, with fewer than 500 going to students studying life sciences.
Dalton is pursuing a doctorate in biological sciences with a specialization in natural resource management. Her research focuses on the flower Castilleja sessiliflora, more commonly known as the downy painted cup or downy paintbrush, and its relationship to the pollinators it relies on for repopulating.
