High Plains cattle sales report

The High Plains area weekly weighted average direct cattle sales results for the week ending Sept. 20 reported receipts of 49,211 head compared to 41,379 head a week ago and 46,611 head a year ago, according to the USDA Livestock Poultry and Grain Market News Division, St. Joseph, Missouri.

The report was based on sales from Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa, and Minnesota feedlots.

Steers: Live FOB basis, over 80% Choice, 12,527 head, 1,362 to 1,700 lbs., 218.00 to 223.00 (221.88); 65 to 80% Choice, 53 head, 1,500 lbs., 220.00. Dressed delivered basis, over 80% Choice, 20,200 head, 868 to 1,127 lbs., 346.00 to 355.00 (350.15); 65 to 80%, 724 head, 916 to 1,046 lbs., 350.00. Dressed FOB, over 80% Choice, 2,474 head, 953 to 1,064 lbs., 348.00 to 351.00, (349.99).

Heifers: Live FOB basis, over 80% Choice, 4,233 head, 1,325 to 1,600 lbs., 218.00 to 224.00 (222.04); 65 to 80% Choice, 117 head, 1,465 lbs. 221.00. Live delivered basis, 80 head, 1,350 lbs., 222.00. Dressed delivered basis, over 80% Choice, 3,735 head, 851 to 1,008 lbs., 348.00 to 355.00 (350.39). 65 to 80% Choice, 82 head, 799 lbs., 350.00. Dressed FOB basis, over 80% Choice, 144 head, 905 lbs., 350.00.
