Cattle market report covers regional feeder cattle prices, slaughter cattle trends and High Plains direct cattle sales for the week ending Sept. 27.
The High Plains area weekly weighted average direct cattle sales results for the week ending Sept. 27 reported receipts of 30,541 head compared to 49,211 head a week ago and 47,212 head a year ago, according to the USDA Livestock Poultry and Grain Market News Division, St. Joseph, Missouri.
The report was based on sales from Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa, and Minnesota feedlots.
Steers: Live FOB basis, over 80% Choice, 10,406 head, 1,325 to 1,675 lbs., 218.00 to 223.00 (220.67). Dressed delivered basis, over 80% Choice, 10,611 head, 868 to 1,120 lbs., 342.00 to 355.00 (347.94); 65 to 80%, 276 head, 902 to 1,024 lbs., 345.00 to 350.00 (347.28). Dressed FOB, over 80% Choice, 396 head, 1,016 lbs., 348.00.
Heifers: Live FOB basis, over 80% Choice, 3,444 head, 1,300 to 1,500 lbs., 219.00 to 223.00 (220.93). Live delivered basis, 80 head, 1,325 lbs., 222.00. Dressed delivered basis, over 80% Choice, 2,433 head, 815 to 960 lbs., 345.00 to 350.00 (348.04); 65 to 80% Choice, 113 head, 848 lbs., 345.00.
