High Plains weekly direct slaughter cattle sales report

High Plains weekly weighted average direct slaughter cattle sales for the week ending July 15, totaled 50,357 head selling, compared to 158,183 head a week ago and 98,995 head last year, according to the USDA Livestock, Poultry and Grain Market News Division, St. Joseph, Missouri.

The report was based on sales in Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa and Minnesota feedlots.

Steers: Live FOB basis, over 80% Choice, 7,504 head, 1,285 to 1,520 lbs., 109.00 to 111.00 (110.30); 65 to 80% Choice, 7,924 head, 1,265 to 1,500 lbs., 109.00 to 111.00 (110.56); 35 to 65% Choice, 2,594 head, 1,145 to 1,450 lbs., 109.50 to 111.00 (110.89).
