High Plains direct slaughter cattle sales report
High Plains weighted average direct slaughter cattle sales for the week ending Aug. 12, totaled 92,824 head selling, compared to 142,100 head a week ago and 112,024 head last year, according to the USDA Livestock, Poultry & Grain Market News Division, St. Joseph, Missouri.
The report was based on sales in Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa and Minnesota feedlots.
Steers: Live FOB basis, over 80% Choice, 30,197 head, 1,275 to 1,550 lbs., 109.00 to 113.00 (110.81); 65 to 80% Choice, 8,972 head, 1,250 to 1,585 lbs., 109.00 to 112.50 (111.55); 35 to 65% Choice, 1,913 head, 1,200 to 1,475 lbs., 110.50 to 111.00 (110.99).
