Pork producer receives Missouri Cattlemen’s Association award

It’s not often you see a leader in the pork industry accepting an award at a cattle industry event, but Missouri Pork Producers Association Executive Vice President Don Nikodim did just that at the recent annual meeting of the Missouri Cattlemen’s Association. Darla Eggers, Sydenstricker Genetics, said Nikodim and his association is one of the most reliable partners for Missouri cattle producers.

“Don understands that agriculture is a family. If the cattle industry has an issue not related to the pork sector, Don Nikodim and the Missouri Pork Producers Association are standing with us,” said Eggers, who presented the award. “Don does not see the industry in segments. He sees Missouri agriculture as one entity, one family. There is no one more deserving of this award.”

MCA Executive Vice President Mike Deering agrees with Eggers and pointed to Nikodim’s leadership in Missouri Farmers Care as proof.

“Don was a founding member of Missouri Farmers Care, which is an organization that brings together all voices in Missouri agriculture to speak with one voice,” said Deering. “Don was chairman of the organization when we successfully passed the Farming Rights Amendment, which enshrined the right to farm and ranch in Missouri’s Constitution.”
