Poultry production starting to increase in latest report

The latest World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimates report indicates that broiler production was forecast to increase on favorable producer returns.

Broiler production was reduced on official data reported for the first quarter of 2025 with the reductions carried forward for the remainder of the year. Broiler production based on May’s projection was 47,512 million pounds and is expected to increase to 48,100 million pounds in 2026.

Broiler exports were projected higher due to increased supplies although growth was expected to be constrained by robust domestic demand and international competition from other major exporters.

Turkey production was also forecast to increase on improved producer returns and recovery from highly pathogenic avian influenza-related culls. Turkey production was also reduced based on official first-quarter data.

Turkey production on an annual basis was estimated at 4,862 million pounds in May 2025 and a year from now it is projected to increase to 5,040 million pounds.
