The High Plains area weekly weighted average direct cattle sales results for the week ending Aug. 30, reported receipts of 51,429 head compared to 53,592 head a week ago and 42,848 head a year ago, according to the USDA Livestock Poultry and Grain Market News Division, St. Joseph, Missouri.
The report was based on sales from Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa, and Minnesota feedlots.
Steers: Live FOB basis, over 80% Choice, 18,075 head, 1,305 to 1,700 lbs., 216.00 to 222.00 (219.23); 65 to 80% Choice, 145 head, 1,350 to 1,550 lbs., 220.00 to 222.00 (221.17.) Live delivered, 227 head, 1,500 to 1,550 lbs. 219.00 to 221.50 (220.51). Dressed delivered basis, over 80% Choice, 18,519 head, 835 to 1,042 lbs., 342.00 to 355.00 (345.33); 65 to 80%, 223 head, 953 to 1,032 lbs., 345.00; Dressed FOB, over 80% Choice, 1,484 head, 894 to 1,081 lbs., 340.00 to 345.00 (344.34).
Heifers: Live FOB basis, over 80% Choice, 4,418 head, 1,275 to 1,500 lbs., 216.00 to 222.00 (219.66). Live delivered basis, over 80% Choice, 37 head, 1,500 lbs., 221.00.
