High Plains cattle sales report

The High Plains area weekly weighted average direct cattle sales results for the week ending Oct. 4 reported receipts of 60,063 head compared to 30,541 head a week ago and 41,942 head a year ago, according to the USDA Livestock Poultry and Grain Market News Division, St. Joseph, Missouri.

The report was based on sales from Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa, and Minnesota feedlots.

Steers: Live FOB basis, over 80% Choice, 21,369 head, 1,375 to 1,720 lbs., 216.00 to 222.00 (219.80). Live delivered basis, over 80% Choice, 762 head, 1,500 to 1,650 lbs., 220.00 to 226.00 (224.88). Dressed delivered basis, over 80% Choice, 16,273 head, 868 to 1,097 lbs., 345.00 to 352.00 (346.26). Dressed FOB, over 80% Choice, 1,777 head, 1,016 to 1,088 lbs., 345.00 to 347.00 (346.71).

Heifers: Live FOB basis, over 80% Choice, 7,301 head, 1,325 to 1,500 lbs., 218.00 to 222.00 (220.69). Live delivered basis, 118 head, 1,325 to 1,425 lbs., 220.00 to 226.00 (224.07). Dressed delivered basis, over 80% Choice, 4,444 head, 775 to 1,040 lbs., 345.00 to 352.00 (346.68); 65 to 80% Choice, 53 head, 871 lbs., 345.00. Dressed FOB, over 80% Choice, 192 head, 857 to 968 lbs., 345.00 to 347.00. (345.42).
