Preferred Beef Group reports fire Jan 26 

News outlets reported a fire early Jan. 26 at the Preferred Beef Group in Booker, Texas.  

A fire broke out in the meat processing plant around 7:45 a.m., according to the Lipscomb County Sheriff’s Office in a news story. An evacuation of employees was issued. No injuries were reported and all personnel were accounted for, according to reports online. 

The cause of the fire is under investigation. 

According to social media, multiple agencies responded to the scene to assist with containment. Those included crews from Darrouzett, Follett, Perryton, Liberal, Seward County, Booker EMS, Lipscomb Countyand the Texas Department of Emergency Management. 

Preferred Beef Group is an employee-owned meat processing plant located in Booker, Texas. Reportedly there are 300 jobs at the plant in a town with a population of 1,300.
