High Plains cattle sales report

The High Plains area weekly weighted average direct cattle sales results for the week ending July 19, reported receipts of 44,246 head compared to 57,501 head a week ago and 49,434 head a year ago, according to the USDA Livestock Poultry and Grain Market News Division, St. Joseph, Missouri.

The report was based on sales from Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa, and Minnesota feedlots.

Steers: Live FOB basis, over 80% Choice, 12,867 head, 1,400 to 1,675 lbs., 230.00 to 245.00 (238.50); 65 to 80% Choice, 1,413 head, 1,415 to 1,500 lbs., 235.00 to 237.00 (236.75); 35 to 65% Choice, 469 head, 1,470 to 1,650 lbs., 237.00. Live delivered basis, over 80% Choice, 1,732 head, 1,450 to 1,625 lbs., 235.00 to 244.00 (241.01). Dressed delivered basis, over 80% Choice, 13,442 head, 837 to 1,073 lbs., 365.00 to 385.00 (377.38); 65 to 80% Choice, 506 head, 991 to 992 lbs., 365.00 to 368.00 (367.00).

Heifers: Live FOB basis, over 80% Choice, 3,667 head, 1,265 to 1,550 lbs., 235.00 to 242.00 (237.98); 65 to 80% Choice, 79 head, 1,300 lbs., 237.00; Dressed delivered, over 80% choice, 2,998 head, 788 to 947 lbs., 365.00 to 385.00 (377.60). 65 to 80% Choice, 48 head, 813 lbs., 375.00.
