High Plains cattle sales report

The High Plains area weekly weighted average direct cattle sales results for the week ending March 8, reported receipts of 61,677 head compared to 42,259 head a week ago and 60,905 head a year ago, according to the USDA Livestock Poultry and Grain Market News Division, St. Joseph, Missouri.

The report was based on sales from Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa, and Minnesota feedlots.

Steers: Live FOB basis, over 80% Choice, 23,778 head, 1,300 to 1,735 lbs., 237.00 to 242.00 (240.02); 65 to 80% Choice, 1,733 head, 1,300 to 1,575 lbs., 233.00 to 240.000 (239.42). 35 to 65% Choice, 1,470 head, 1,400 to 1,600 lbs., 238.00 to 240.00. (239.24). Live delivered basis, over 80% Choice, 598 head, 1,475 to 1,650 lbs., 241.00 to 243.00 (242.37). Dressed delivered basis, over 80% Choice, 9,948 head, 840 to 1,111 lbs., 375.00 to 380.00 (379.81); 65 to 80% Choice, 287 head, 912 to 1,008 lbs., 380.00.
