Kansas—This past week, demand remained strong this past week as drought conditions persist. The eastern third of the state received substantial moisture and reports good crop conditions, while the rest of the state continues to await rainfall. Buyer interest in new crop remains high as forage inventories decline. Some producers report a good first cutting of alfalfa, with many others preparing to begin harvest, according to the Kansas Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, May 2.
